This study analyzes the evolution of women's political participation in Brazil, focusing on the legislative changes introduced by laws 12.034/2009 and 23.607/2019. These laws aim to increase female representation through quotas and specific resource allocation for women's candidacies. The research adopts an interdisciplinary approach to explore both the advances and persistent challenges that women face in politics, including cultural barriers, gender stereotypes, and political violence. Despite significant legislative progress, the analysis reveals that women's effective participation is still limited by entrenched political practices and lack of support within parties. The study suggests that legislative changes must be accompanied by deep cultural and institutional transformations to ensure more substantial gender equality in Brazilian politics.
